If you’re feeling a bit lucky, you should take this new Perrelet for a spin! The Turbine Casino Roulette is the quintessential gambler’s timepiece.

Though Perrelet stands as one of the most heritage-rich watch brands out there, it remains somewhat lesser known among its peers. Founded by Abraham-Louis Perrelet in 1777, the brand has carved out an interesting niche for itself in the modern industry.

Where its eponymous founder was famed for creating the first self-winding mechanism in watchmaking history, Perrelet celebrates that legacy through a defining interest in motion. Introduced in 2009, the Turbine collection became one of its signature lines, using the movement of the wrist to showcase unique artistry.

While the brand has explored everything from Arabic art to French humour, and even Japanese hentai, the new Perrelet Turbine Casino Roulette may be one of its most avant-garde demonstrations yet. For a complication as unpredictable as its Turbine technology, only one medium could truly match it: games of chance. The Turbine has thus been reimagined as a roulette table in a limited edition of 100 pieces.

Hardly A Gamble

The new Perrelet Turbine Casino Roulette is housed in a 41mm-wide, 13.9mm-thick case. Like its peers, it maintains a confident, if somewhat intimidating, wrist presence; the integrated design makes it wear larger than the dimensions might suggest. In spite of this, the lightweight properties of Grade 2 titanium help offset the bold silhouette.

The case architecture follows the established Turbine design language, featuring a flat bezel, a vertically grooved case band, and a prominent crown engraved with the Perrelet logo. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, reinforcing the practical nature of the collection.

Wearability is further enhanced by an integrated five-link titanium bracelet that mirrors the case’s alternating polished and satin finishes. Secured by a folding clasp, the bracelet is designed to sit comfortably on the wrist, aided by the ergonomic construction of the case and lugs. The watch is also delivered with an additional black rubber strap equipped with a titanium pin buckle, allowing for a more casual option if required.

The Spins

The defining feature of the Turbine Casino Roulette lies, unsurprisingly, in its dial. In a first for the collection, the traditional propeller-style turbine blades have been entirely replaced by a miniature roulette wheel, meticulously recreated and fully integrated into the mechanism.

Crafted from sandblasted 316L stainless steel and positioned above a black lower dial, the turbine becomes the interactive centrepiece. Referencing the French-style roulette layout, the Turbine Casino Roulette is complete with a central spindle featuring four arms rendered in a rose gold tone and finished with polished black terminal spheres.

Along the outer circumference, a vivid red arrow takes the place of the traditional roulette ball. As the turbine rotates with the movement of the wrist, this arrow aligns with the numbered track, simulating the suspense of a spinning wheel.

Unlike previous Turbine models, which emphasised rapid rotation, this iteration adopts a slower, more deliberate motion thanks to the use of a single tungsten counterweight. This adjustment allows the wearer to more clearly follow the interaction between the arrow and the dial, enhancing both legibility and interactivity.

The traditional hour markers have been replaced entirely by roulette numbers ranging from 0 to 36, presented in alternating red and black, with the zero highlighted in green at 12 o’clock. Time is indicated via central hour, minute, and seconds hands, all treated with Super-LumiNova to ensure readability in low-light conditions. The result is a dial that merges functional time display with thematic storytelling without sacrificing clarity.

(In)-House Edge

Within the display caseback lies the beating heart of the operation. Hidden behind a roulette wheel graphic is the Calibre P-331-MH, an automatic movement developed by Perrelet alongside Soprod.

Beating at 4Hz (28,800VpH) with a 42-hour power reserve, the movement has been engineered for both accuracy and robustness. This is underscored by its dual validation, holding both COSC chronometer and Chronofiable certifications.

While most will be familiar with COSC, the Chronofiable certification is an equally gruelling test conducted by the Laboratoire Dubois in Switzerland. Simulating six months of wear in just 21 days through accelerated ageing, thermal variation, magnetic shocks, and functional testing, it verifies long-term reliability and identifies potential production flaws.

The fact that Perrelet has gone to such lengths with the Calibre P-331-MH underscores the brand’s dedication and shows that, beyond the fun, there remains a deep-seated respect for horology.

Initial Thoughts

While we have already highlighted five watches you may have missed at Geneva Watch Week, we wanted to single this out for two reasons. The first is simple: we genuinely like the watch. A roulette wheel design is always fun to see, no matter which brand executes it. Secondly, we believe Perrelet has been making progressive steps in the right direction.

It has established a strong identity with avant-garde timepieces like the Turbine collection, while also methodically rounding itself out through the expansion of the Weekend line. With the strides it has made in the industry, why shouldn’t it celebrate with something a little wackier?

In any case, the Turbine Casino Roulette marks a creative new way for Perrelet to disrupt the conventions of watchmaking, and it will make for a perfect conversation starter, or betting partner, wherever you go. Gamble responsibly.
