A. Lange & Söhne opens a new chapter in Australia with its three-storey Sydney flagship boutique. A thoughtfully designed space where collectors can experience the brand’s precision watchmaking and craftsmanship up close.
Enthusiasts and fans of A. Lange & Söhne has something to be very excited about, as the brand opens a new flagship boutique in the heart of Sydney. Located at 129 King Street, Sydney, this boutique spans an impressive three-stories, providing not only a spacious and luxurious setting, but plenty of visuals showcasing the rich history and heritage of this exceptional watchmaker.

Being located in King Street means that this new boutique is in the city’s most prestigious shopping area, placing A. Lange & Söhne amongst the world’s most luxurious brands. This is perfectly encapsulated in the way the boutique is presented, as the moment you step inside, you get an immersive introduction to the world of A. Lange & Söhne.
The team at Watch Advice had the chance to go see the boutique in person, and there were so many details to fall in love with this new flagship boutique. Firstly, upon entering the boutique, guests are greeted in a reception area which is beautifully designed. It has been executed with purpose, with materials and styling carried out to represent German design. From clean architectural lines, carefully chosen materials, and the harmonious colour schemes, every detail feels thoughtfully considered and aligned with A. Lange & Söhne’s pursuit of precision and refinement.
Our new home in Sydney embodies our philosophy to ‘never stand still’. Every element, from the architectural flow to the smallest decorative detail, reflects our dedication to precision, tradition, and innovation. We look forward to welcoming our friends and clients into our boutique, where they can experience our watches in a truly meaningful way.”
Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Söhne
Right behind the main reception area was one of my favourite displays in the boutique. Encased in feature displays and highlighted with illuminated vitrines on the wall were the six different collections of A. Lange & Söhne. Key timepieces from each of the six families were beautifully displayed, which include Lange 1, Odysseus, Zeitwerk, 1815, Richard Lange, and Saxonia.

As you make your way through to the first floor, either through the stairs or the elevator, the boutique opens out into a retail and lounge area. The area has been furnished to have an elegant aesthetic, combining soft neutral tones with modern furniture to create an inviting environment that features an open exhibition area and a dedicated private room, designed to meet the expectations of the brand’s most distinguished clients.
One of the standout features of the first floor is the Wall of Parts. Spanning the entire height of the floor, this Wall of Parts displays A. Lange & Söhne’s Triple Split movement in all of its glory. A total of 567 components are displayed in small glass boxes, with each part numbered and named for the specific component. The Triple Split movement is A. Lange & Söhne’s most complex chronograph calibre, capable of measuring split times for seconds, minutes, and even hours simultaneously. This is an extraordinary achievement, highlighting A. Lange & Söhne’s pursuit of mechanical innovation and precision.
The second floor offers an even higher level of refinement and privacy. When you first enter the floor, you are greeted with a long bar counter to the left, which sets the tone of being a more open and friendly area, where clients can sit down for a coffee or a drink. On the opposite side of the bar counter is a banquette seating area, which encourages clients to take their time, have relaxed conversations, and really take in what A. Lange & Söhne has to offer.

As you venture further out on this floor, there is also a private room with a large central display table, perfectly suitable to accommodate a group of clients. What I personally loved about this area, though, was the “Experience Library”. This was a salon-style area that was specifically designed with curated artworks, featured pieces, and reading materials that provide insight into the deep, rich history of A. Lange & Söhne.
With the opening of this new flagship store in Australia, A. Lange & Söhne has created more than just another retail space. Instead, it offers Australian collectors and enthusiasts a place to experience the brand’s exceptional craftsmanship and what makes A. Lange & Söhne so special, up close.
With care thought gone into every detail across the three levels, the boutique reflects the same attention to detail and craftsmanship that defines every Lange watch. For those passionate about fine watchmaking, this new Sydney location is set to become a destination worth visiting!
“Our quest for perfection allows us to transcend not only horological but also geographical boundaries. Thanks to our strong community of Lange friends in Australia, our craftsmanship from Glashütte – a small town in Saxony – can now be experienced on the other side of the globe.”
