The Big Bang Unico Is Back For A Watches Of Switzerland Special Edition

by Sameera Gamage

As a celebration of their ongoing patnership, Hublot and Watches Of Switzerland have released a new special edition Big Bang Unico timepiece.

Carrying all the same characteristics that define the Big Bang Unico, this new model has been given a new look, one that reflects Hublot’s “All Black” concept, which has become an emblematic style in the realm of luxury watchmaking. This special edition timepiece is limited to just 50 models, and can only be purchased through selected boutiques and online from only in United Kingdom and United States.

As the CEO of Hublot, Ricardo Guadalupe is proud of this latest creation as states “building upon the success of our previous launches,we are proud to continue to work with the Watches of Switzerland Group on a collaboration that unites
watchmaking excellence and innovative materials. We celebrate our iconic Big Bang All Black Green and materials we have respectively mastered in our manufacture.”

The “All Black” concept by Hublot has now become an iconic style. It was first introduced by Hublot back in 2006 and is characterised by the all black aesthetic used in the design. This aesthetic is achieved through the use of innovative high-tech materials such as black ceramic, which allows for a more sleeker appearance, all the while enhancing durability and creating a lightweight construction.

The Big Bang All Black Green comes in a 42mm black ceramic case with a contrasting green ceramic bezel. The chronograph pushers and crown have been done in black to match the aesthetics of the case. The dial is the same characteristic design as the other Big Bang models, as it features a skeletonised dial with a mixture of large Arabic and baton style hour indices. The superlumi-nova on the hour indices and hands have been done in green, which matches with the bezel nicely. It also helps the indices and hands to stand out against the movement background.

Hublot’s in-house Unico HUB1280 self-winding flyback chronograph movement can be seen from the case back. Unlike the dial side, the case back is full black, which allows more of the movement this time to stand out. The HUB1280 (Unico 2) movement is able to operate at a frequency of 4hz (28, 800 VpH) and gives out an apprximate power reserve of 72 hours (3 days).

Hublot is offering the Big Bang All Black Green in two different strap types. The first is a camouflage rubber strap which certainly makes the watch stand out more, even though the camo-print is suppose to do the opposite! The second strap on offer is a more subtle all black fabric strap. This is our personal favorite as it goes well with the overall aesthetic’s of the watch. It also allows the bezel and dial to stand out a lot more against the black surroundings.

The Hublot Big Bang All Black Green is available for purchase through selected boutique from United Kingdom and United States and through Watches of Switzerland E-Commerce.
