The Dolcevita Collection is back, now with a more discreet and slimmer profile, classic styling and aesthetically colourful combinations, it showcases Longines subtle luxury and modern elegance.
Longines existing Dolcevita Collection highlighted the brand’s take on contemporary elegance with it’s slim rectangular profile and colourful leather straps. As the name suggests, the timepiece has been inspired by “Dolce Vita”, or in other words, the sweetness of life. The iconic design of the Dolcevita collection was the rectangular case, however, it was also easily recognisable thanks to the Roman numeral hour indices.
The Dolcevita was first created back in 1927, and back then rectangular shaped watches weren’t the norm, which meant popularity in these timepieces grew overtime. The 1927 model, with the rectangular case, Arabic hour indices and constant seconds above 6 o’clock has stood the test of time, and carries a similar design in the Dolcevita watches almost 70 years later! In 1997 was when the first Dolcevita timepiece was launched, and hence the start of an iconic collection of elegance timepieces.
Matthias Breschan, Longines CEO speaks on the importance of elegance as the core design theme with these watches, as he explains; “Elegance is unique because it allows us to break from traditional aesthetic codes while revealing multiple facets of our personality. It is an opportunity to continually reinvent ourselves, based on our desires and moods, whether serious or playful, but always in keeping with our own tastes and values.”
Recently the brand took the Dolcevita to a more simplistic design approach by only displaying the hour and minute hands along with the constant seconds indicator at 6 o’clock. This was a much more colourful and playful approach from Longines, surely to be a hit with the more adventurous spirit. The design cues from this existing Dolcevita collection is what has inspired this all-new Mini Dolcevita timepieces!
The Mini Dolcevita collection has a slimmer profile (21.50mm x 29.00mm) compared to the existing Dolcevita watches (23mm x 37mm). This slimmer profile means that, depending on the size of the wrist, it will sit better, and also carry a subtle elegant appearance. The timepieces in this new Mini Dolcevita collection features a lot of different models, catered to suit a variety of different personal tastes. All presented in a stainless steel case, six of these models come with the case framed with 38 IF-VVS Top Wesselton Diamonds.
There is actually quite a variety of aesthetic designs in this new collection. Some of the models also feature the new Cosmo circular dial inside the rectangular case design. The Cosmo dial design stands out in the collection thanks to not only due to the circular design, but also because of the silver sunray background, a white matte hour track, silver sunray inner circle and to finish it off, a white matte round small seconds subdial. The minute track and hour indices on these new Cosmo editions are painted, and along with the blue steel hands make the dial stand out beautifully.
Four models in the collection come with four striking fashion forward colours; ivory white, mint green, blossom pink and serene blue. These four models come with diamonds on the case, a square dial design with square minute track and sub-dial and feature glit 2N Roman numerals and hour indices. These are the more fun, summer timepieces. The hands and indices not only add colour variation to the watches, but also stand out well against the lighter coloured dials. Lastly, each watch is supplied with a dial colour matching leather strap, which further plays into the fun characteristics of these timepieces.
Each of the new timepieces in this Mini Dolcevita collection is offered with a newly designed stainless steel bracelet which is made of up 198 links, or on a stylish black leather strap (excluding coloured dial variations). The Roman dialed timepiece is also available on a red leather strap.
The timepieces in this latest Mini Dolcevita collection is a powerful statement to the creation of elegant timepieces. The collection has a range of timepieces from the luxury to the more playful summer editions, bringing with it the taste of that sweet Italian life.
