Jacob & Co. takes its cinematic Godfather series to new heights with the Godfather II, a world-first musical timepiece that plays two melodies from the legendary film score!
Jacob & Co’s Godfather timepieces have always been the kind of creations that make you stop and go “wow”. They are certainly not timepieces that are designed to be subtle or understated, but rather bold creations of high watchmaking that blend mechanical theater with cinematic storytelling.
Now the brand is doubling down on the Godfather theme with the introduction of The Godfather II, a world-first musical timepiece that plays two melodies from The Godfather score: “The Godfather’s Waltz” and “The Godfather Love Theme”. It is a fitting evolution of the collection, taking the cinematic storytelling that has always defined Jacob & Co.’s Godfather creations and pushing them even further.
The two world-famous compositions that were created by Nino Rota for director Francis Ford Coppola are central to The Godfather II’s identity. “The Godfather Love Theme” serves as the franchise’s main theme, while “The Godfather’s Waltz” is heard first during the original film’s wedding scene. Now, both have been beautifully integrated into the new movement of The Godfather II.
“I wanted The Godfather II timepiece to offer a different take on the musical timepiece concept. We designed a refined, 1930s-inspired case and spent three years developing a movement that could play two melodies while remaining wearable.”

Built Like A Scene From The Film
This latest Godfather II, “The Only Double Melody Musical Timepiece,” is rich in cinematic references. The 42mm x 44mm rose gold rectangular style case is a completely new design for the Godfather series, with the Godfather I having a more traditional circular dial. The case features an elegant, curved ergonomic profile and has been very much inspired by Art Deco styling.
It doesn’t just stop there either. There are quite a few references to the movie within the case itself. The curved profile of the case is finished with a beautiful mirror-like polish, which extends to the sides of the case that feature Don Corleone’s rose motif beautifully engraved on the sides. The crown, protruding out of the middle of the engraving, is designed with spiral grooves, which are reminiscent of a gun barrel. Then on the caseback, there are engraved bullet holes, a reference to the violence in the film.
The dial of the Godfather II is rather simple in its nature when you consider everything that’s going on inside. It does, however, further highlight references to the movie franchise and also displays a snippet of the timepiece’s mechanical complexity. The deep black lacquer dial is said to “evoke the film’s noir aesthetic”, while a finely detailed portrait of Marlon Brando as Don Corleone anchors the dial at the 3 o’clock position. The dial also features cutouts for the movement’s power reserve indicator, shown at 4 o’clock, while the music box’s power reserve indicator, shown through the Godfather’s signature rose, is located at 8 o’clock.
The iconic puppet-string Godfather logo is shown at 12 o’clock, standing out beautifully in rose-gold tones against the deep-black lacquer dial. Then, at 6 o’clock, is the main mechanical marvel. Alongside the timepiece’s ability to play a record-breaking two musical melodies, it also features a high-complication in the form of a one-minute flying tourbillon. This gives the watch even more mechanical depth, turning the lower half of the dial into a captivating display of motion, complexity, and technical artistry.
The Mechanical Heart Of The Godfather II
The engine powering this incredible music box movement is Jacob & Co’s in-house JCAM62. The intricate music box system is built around a comb and cylinder, with the comb’s 18 steel teeth producing different notes depending on their length, while a pin-studded brass cylinder activates them in sequence. A lateral shift of less than a millimeter, controlled by the melody selector, changes which pins engage the comb, allowing the watch to alternate between the two compositions.
The melody selector at 10 o’clock allows the wearer to choose between the two iconic tunes. Then, to activate the tune, the pusher at 8 o’clock needs to be engaged. Each melody then plays for an impressive 15-20 seconds. Not only that, but the melody can be repeated up to 10 times on a single wind. What makes this movement even more innovative is that both tunes are programmed into the single music box barrel.

With such a design, it allows the case to have a more compact design, even housing the one-minute flying tourbillon! The movement offers a power reserve of up to 72 hours, which can be tracked through the dial at the 4 o’clock position.
Initial Thoughts
Jacob & Co. has always gone the extra distance with their timepieces, but even more so for the Godfather-themed timepieces. This new Godfather II “The Only Double Melody Musical Timepiece,” is no exception, continuing this tradition in the most dramatic way possible. This timepiece is certain to grab your attention, not just because of its bold design, but because every part of it feels tied to the world of The Godfather. From the new Art Deco-inspired rose gold case to the engravings, black lacquer dial, and cinematic references throughout, it feels less like more and more like a mechanical tribute brought to life on the wrist.

What makes the timepiece more special is that it is backed by real mechanical depth. It’s not just a timepiece that showcases its references to the iconic film franchise. Creating a world-first musical timepiece that can play two melodies from The Godfather score is already a huge achievement, but pairing that with a one-minute flying tourbillon, a compact wearable case, and a movement that took three years to develop takes it to another level.
This is where Jacob & Co. really shines, creating a watch that is not only visually unforgettable, but also a serious piece of haute horology with genuine innovation at its core.
