Mechanical mastery meets a riot of colour: Mauron Musy like you’ve never seen before!
Mauron Musy is a brand synonymous with innovation, seamlessly blending mechanical ingenuity with artistic expression to create truly distinctive timepieces. One quick look at the brand’s catalogue and you can immediately see they aren’t here to abide by traditional watchmaking designs, but make creations for those who are bold and have a daring spirit.
While the nO-Ring® case design is part of the core identity of Mauron Musy, their dial designs vary from different finishes to intricate skeleton designs that immediately catch the attention. The Architect is one such model, which we were fortunate enough to go hands-on with, is a world-first computer modelled skeletonised timepiece.

This latest creation, the MU06 Mayura, once again pushes the boundaries of watchmaking not just for Muaron Musy, but for the world of horology as well. It is certainly outside of the norm for the brand, as looking at the current collections, there aren’t any timepeices that feature bright colours or the use of colours in an “artistic” way. I must say, this is a fun watch, and while it may not appeal to everyone’s tastes, it will certainly have a magnetic allure for collectors who appreciate the fusion of cutting-edge engineering and bold design.
What makes this timepiece even more appealing is its uniqueness. Mauron Musy has achieved the iridescent finish of the timepiece through Advanced Arc Technology, an advanced coating process that gives the distinctive and unpredictable allure. This ensures that no two timepeices are alike, offering each owner a truly unique mechanical art masterpiece.
Timepeices like this are few and far between in the world of horology. In an industry that often leans on tradition and heritage, it’s refreshing to see a brand like Mauron Musy take such a bold approach while still staying true to its mechanical DNA. However, despite this radically different aesthetic appearance, the MU06 Mayura feels entirely on-brand, a different side of Mauron Musy’s innovative approach to watchmaking. This is certainly a timepiece that challenges convention, and quite frankly, I can’t imagine a more traditional watchmaker executing something like this without compromising their identity.
Case Design
The MU06 Mayura retains the signature Mauron Musy nO-Ring® 41mm case design, which allows the timepiece to function without the use of traditional gaskets or seals. The nO-Ring® patented technology ensures that the timepiece has 100% mechanical water resistance, delivering a robust and durable construction which, as we can see, doesn’t compromise on aesthetic flair! In the MU06 Mayura, this is hidden beneath the vibrant and colourful playful exterior.
As mentioned earlier, this colourful approach is achieved thanks to Advanced Art Technology (AAT). Mauron Musy states, “Originally developed for the aerospace and motorsport industries, this ultra-durable (AAT) coating provides exceptional hardness and thermal resistance. Its remarkably smooth surface reduces friction and minimises particle adhesion, ensuring long-lasting brilliance and enhanced reliability. As the metal interacts with reactive gases, it reveals unique iridescent reflections — no two pieces are ever alike, making each watch a singular expression of craftsmanship.”
Dial Design
This latest MU06 Mayura falls within the brand’s MU06 UNIX collection, where the key features include the bouchardé centre dial, which features a grained/textured aesthetic with a separate finish for the hour and minute tracks. The collection also features a separate sub-dial for the constant seconds, which is overlayed on top of the main dial to give a three-dimensional appearance.
For the MU06 Mayura, all these elements undergo the same meticulous treatment as the AAT coating for the case. The bouchardé centre gives a beautiful shine which matches the case nicely, while the beadblasted finish on the peripheral dial (hour and minute tracks) has a matt-like finish. This helps to add contrast between these two elements on the dial, which in turn makes the dial stand out so much more. All the different coloured elements of the dial give the timepiece a rainbow appearance, drawing the eye across the dial in a way that feels almost kinetic.
Movement
The beating heart of the MU06 Mayura is Mauron Musy’s in-house MM02 Calibre movement. This is the brand’s first in-house micro-rotor movement, with the inspiration for the design coming from architectural principles, leading to a three-dimensional design whereby the bridges and openings create a “striking interplay of light and shadow”. The MM02 Calibre operates at a high frequency of 4Hz (28,800 VpH), while offering a decent power reserve of 40 hours. Through the open case back, the movement’s meticulously arranged architecture reveals a stunning display of mechanical artistry. As Mauron Musy states, “Every detail of the MM02 reflects the brand’s unwavering commitment to mechanical excellence, redefining traditional watchmaking with its bold and refined engineering.”
Initial Thoughts
The MU06 Mayura is a bold watch from a bold brand, a vivid statement piece which proves that Mauron Musy isn’t afraid to shake things up. Limited to just 13 timepeices, this watch is a rare combination of mechanical innovation and artistic experimentation, all wrapped up in the brand’s innovative nO-Ring® case. Offered on either a blue HNBR rubber strap or a red Rawhide Timberland and smooth calfskin leather strap, the watch offers collectors two distinct aesthetics. Personally, the blue strap is the standout for me; it provides just the right contrast, allowing the rainbow-hued dial to shine without competing for attention.

That said, as striking as this execution is, I can’t help but wonder how the same dial and AAT coating might look paired with a stealthier black PVD case, like what we’ve seen on the MU06-201 and 202. It would be a perfect middle ground, slightly toned down, but still vibrant, still fun, and very much in the spirit of Mauron Musy’s daring identity.
