When he’s not wrestling crocs or breaking the internet, Australia’s favourite son also likes to dabble in horology from time to time! Here are some highlights from Robert Irwin’s very well-rounded collection of timepieces!
The Royal Family is a cultural phenomenon—arguably the first globally recognised celebrity institution. Their presence in the modern zeitgeist is nearly unmatched. That is, unless you live in Australia, where we have a Royal Family of our own.
But instead of crowns and castles, ours wear khakis and lace-up boots. Rather than Buckingham Palace, they hail from Beerwah, Queensland. Of course, I’m talking about the Irwin family — our beloved wildlife warriors whose boundless energy is only rivalled by their deep passion for conservation.
While every Irwin has captured hearts both here and abroad, it’s Robert Irwin who’s perhaps emerged as the most widely adored. With 7.4 million Instagram followers and a growing presence in media, Robert has had some mighty shoes to fill. And yet, alongside sister Bindi, mother Terri, and the wider Wildlife Warriors team, he’s built his own legacy while staying true to his father Steve’s iconic path.

But when he’s not rescuing wildlife or breaking the internet in his Bond briefs, Robert seems to have another passion: watches. From humble Casios to high-end Rolexes, his collection reflects an interesting theme — no matter how bold or extravagant, they all feel functional, practical, and down-to-earth, much like Robert himself.
So, let’s stop wasting time and get stuck in! Throw on your khakis and ready your biggest ‘Crikey!’ as we take a look at the watch collection of Australia’s crocodile-hunting prince.
Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Wildlife Warriors Limited Edition
Pictured here, Robert Irwin attended Earthshot 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa — an annual platform launched by Prince William to support and fund solutions to the planet’s many environmental challenges. This prestigious and forward-thinking event is a natural fit for someone like Robert, offering a powerful stage to further champion the cause of global conservation. And what better timepiece to wear for the occasion than one created specifically for Wildlife Warriors?

In 2022, French watchmaker Bell & Ross unveiled a limited run of just 25 timepieces made in collaboration with the Australian non-profit. The partnership was a fitting one, as Bell & Ross watches are known for their bold, robust designs, which perfectly echo the larger-than-life legacy of Wildlife Warriors’ late founder. Housed in a custom black ceramic case measuring 42mm wide and 51mm long, the BR 03-92 Wildlife Warriors edition seamlessly blends the rugged reliability of the BR 03 series with the signature khaki colour associated with the Australia Zoo uniforms. At the six o’clock position, the Wildlife Warriors logo is proudly emblazoned on the dial, serving as a constant reminder of the watch’s mission and the cause it supports.

Rolex Submariner ‘Cookie Monster’
While Robert Irwin’s taste in watches often leans toward practicality, that doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy a special piece now and then! In the image below, Robert is celebrating his niece Grace Irwin’s fourth birthday — but watch enthusiasts might notice something else worth celebrating: he’s wearing a rare Rolex timepiece, uncommon even among luxury collectors.

Enter the Rolex Submariner Date in 18k White Gold — better known in watch circles as the ‘Cookie Monster.’ Unlike the similarly blue-themed ‘Smurf,’ the Cookie Monster pairs its striking blue bezel with a black dial, giving it a recognisable but still refined contrast. It also edges out the Smurf in size, with a 41mm white gold case measuring 47.6mm lug-to-lug and 12.5mm thick. It’s a rare and premium Submariner, even by Rolex standards, making it all the more impressive that Robert owns one — and acts as a subtle reminder of the Irwins’ influence and visibility on the world stage. Sure, most of their resources go toward their incredible conservation work, but who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? The Irwins are still celebrities, after all.

Seiko ProSpex Street Series ‘SafArnie’
For those worried about the high price tags of the last two pieces, don’t worry! The Irwins may be household names and Aussie icons, but what makes them truly endearing is that they’ve never been afraid to get their hands dirty. Steve Irwin didn’t earn the title ‘Crocodile Hunter’ by kicking back, and the family proudly carries on that same hands-on ethos today. Robert’s next watch perfectly reflects that spirit: the Seiko Prospex Street Series, affectionately nicknamed the ‘SafArnie.’

A portmanteau of ‘Safari’ and ‘Arnie,’ the watch is a modern twist on the original Seiko Arnie — itself a retro revival of the legendary H558-5000, made famous by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. The original accompanied Schwarzenegger in two of his most iconic, macho roles: John Matrix in Commando and Dutch in the action-horror classic Predator.
At first glance, I assumed Robert was wearing the standard Arnie model — but a closer look at his Instagram revealed a dead giveaway: darkened pushers, unlike the shiny metal ones on the regular version. Considering Robert’s impressively ripped appearance in a recent Bonds underwear shoot, he’s more than suited to pull off a watch this bold, even without his crocodile-wrangling reputation.

Casio G-SHOCK Mudmaster
Once again, Robert Irwin’s watch collection sails into accessible territory with this CASIO G-SHOCK Mudmaster. When you’re out in the bush, diving in the oceans, and risking your life to save animals (no matter how deadly they may be), it’s crucial to have a timepiece that is built to take on anything in the world. Of course, in the watch world, there’s only one brand that proves a cut above the rest in that regard: CASIO, with the seminal G-SHOCK line.
Released in 2019, this particular G-SHOCK Mudmaster is a fairly recent addition to the G-SHOCK catalogue, which has been an icon of accessible watchmaking ever since the first model was released in 1983. With it, you get a wide array of complications, including: a chronograph; a 38 timezone worldtimer; an analogue-digital display; an alarm; and even a perpetual calendar! This is compounded not only by a stalwart 200m water resistance rating, but also a carbon/resin 55.4mm case tailor-made to withstand practically anything besides an atom bomb. So, while Robert might seem like he’s too close for comfort with a death adder in the above Instagram video, I highly doubt it would even be able to put a dent in the monstrous G-SHOCK he has equipped.

Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Heritage Chronograph
You might’ve already started to notice a trend: Robert Irwin appears to be a big fan of Bell & Ross. While we won’t speculate too much, it’s easy to imagine that his appreciation for the French brand’s bold, utilitarian design — and their shared passion for purpose-driven work — helped pave the way for their 2022 collaboration with Wildlife Warriors.

Evidence of this connection goes back further than you might expect. This adorable pic of Robert with a koala was posted all the way back in February 2020 — well before Bell & Ross and Wildlife Warriors officially joined forces. Even then, Robert was opting for some of the more unconventional pieces in the Bell & Ross lineup.
Case in point? The now-discontinued BR 03-94 Heritage Chronograph, as seen above. This timepiece brings a vintage-inspired twist to the brand’s otherwise ultra-modern aesthetic. It still delivers on the hallmarks of Bell & Ross — robust specs, a sleek black ceramic case, and outstanding legibility — but the tan, sepia-toned numerals give it an aged, almost nostalgic feel. It’s a watch that imagines what a classic pilot’s chronograph might have looked like, had Bell & Ross been crafting aviation tools back in the golden age of flight.
Reference & Specifications:

Ref. BR0394-HERI-CE
- Dimensions: 42mm case diameter x 51.5mm lug-to-lug x 12.8mm thickness
- Case Material: Matte black ceramic
- Dial: Matte black and tan
- Movement: Automatic BR-CAL.301 with date and chronograph complications
- Power Reserve: 42h
- Water Resistance: 100m (10 bar)
- Strap: Brown leather strap with black PVD steel pin buckle

Rolex Deepsea
While Robert Irwin’s expertise lies in handling some of the world’s most dangerous animals, even the man who seemingly fears nothing has to tread carefully from time to time. In this Instagram video, Robert finds himself in Singapore, facing one of his most unexpected challenges yet — not a crocodile or a snake, but a fruit: the infamous durian.
Beloved by many for its rich, custard-like flesh, the durian is equally notorious for its overpowering stench, often likened to rotting feet, sewage, or worse. Its pungent odour is so strong that it has been banned in many public places across Southeast Asia, including public transportation and hotels. In this case, it’s not the bite of the animal Robert needs to worry about — it’s the smell.
And while the video mercifully saves us from having to endure the durian’s stench, it also allows us to catch a blink-and-you-miss-it moment with another unique Rolex in Robert’s collection: The Deepsea. Yet another spectacular watch rooted firmly in practical philosophies, the Deepsea is purpose-built for saturation diving. However, while the Submariner line can withstand the ocean’s depths, the Deepsea has been made to conquer the abyss. Complete with a unique colourway, and enlarged case size and a hilariously tough 3,900m water resistance rating, the Rolex Deepsea is as close as you can get to a watch that can outlast even the apocalypse.

Bell & Ross BR-05 Chrono Black Steel
Finally, we top off Robert Irwin’s collection with yet another Bell & Ross timepiece. In this Instagram video, Robert can be seen hastily rescuing a turtle from the highway in classic Irwin fashion. However, eagle-eyed watch lovers will have already spotted his spectacular timepiece from a mile away. Of course, it’s another Bell & Ross piece, but this time it’s one more aligned with the urban, modernised aesthetic that has begun to pervade the Bell & Ross catalogue.
The watch Robert is wearing is none other than the Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono Black Steel. Unlike its BR 03 cousins, which are heavily inspired by aircraft cockpit instruments, the BR 05 takes on a more refined and universally appealing design. While it retains hallmark features — like the exposed screws at each corner of the bezel — the case has been thoughtfully reshaped into a more streamlined, cosmopolitan silhouette. In today’s watch landscape, square designs like the TAG Heuer Monaco and Cartier Santos are experiencing a major resurgence — and Bell & Ross is more than happy to meet that demand with this bold, premium chronograph.
