This new collection brings an integrated bracelet to the Maison for the very first time, while taking the traditional elegance of the Master Control and presenting it through a more contemporary design.

The Master Control Chronomètre family introduces three new models: the Chronomètre Date, the Chronomètre Date Power Reserve and, lastly, the most complicated of the three, the Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar.
Jaeger-LeCoultre first introduced the Master Control collection in 1992 as a modern expression of the Maison’s traditional watchmaking, bringing together restrained design and everyday functionality. The arrival of the Master Control collection also introduced the Maison’s 1000 Hours Control protocol. This saw each completed watch tested for reliability, precision, and performance for 1,000 hours before leaving the manufacture.
This focus on technical performance became one of the central pillars of the Master Control collection, allowing its timepieces to offer a traditional aesthetic without simply referring back to vintage designs. Now, more than three decades later, Jaeger-LeCoultre is continuing the philosophy of the Master Control and bringing it into the modern era with the Chronomètre collection, retaining its core elements while introducing a more refined architectural design.
Jaeger-LeCoultre describes the new Master Control Chronomètre collection as a synthesis of eight decades of watches carrying the Master name, created around performance, distinctive design and ergonomic comfort. The Master Control Chronomètre is therefore an evolution of these principles rather than a direct replacement for the existing Master Control collection, preserving familiar signature details such as the smooth bezel, Dauphine hands and refined dial aesthetics. The result allows Jaeger-LeCoultre to modernise one of its most classical collections while remaining recognisably connected to the Maison’s heritage.
The biggest change within this collection is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s first-ever integrated metal bracelet design. This replaces the Master Control’s traditional lugs and creates a beautifully balanced transition from the case into the bracelet. It immediately gives the collection a more modern and contemporary identity while retaining the elegance associated with the Master Control.
You can clearly see that careful thought has gone into the design of the integrated bracelet. Details such as the polished V-shaped bevels reference the geometry of the Dauphine hands and trapezoidal hour markers, ensuring that the bracelet remains visually connected to the dial.
Sitting at the top of this new family is the Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar. With the perpetual calendar being one of traditional watchmaking’s most beloved and sophisticated complications, it is great to see it included within the new Master Control Chronomètre line. Jaeger-LeCoultre complements the date, day, month, and year indications with a moon phase display, creating a new flagship expression of the collection and the timepiece at the centre of this hands-on review!
Initial Thoughts
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control collection has always represented a more modern and contemporary side of the brand, while also embodying its impressive 1000 Hours Control testing protocol. Every completed watch within the collection undergoes rigorous testing for 1,000 hours before becoming commercially available. It therefore seems fitting that the latest Chronomètre models form part of this collection.
While Mario and Matt covered the Chronomètre Date and the Chronomètre Date Power Reserve editions, I specifically asked for the Perpetual Calendar model. From the initial images, not only did it look beautifully balanced and proportioned, but its technical complexity also appeared visually harmonious with the overall design of the Master Control Chronomètre collection. After finally trying the watch on, it honestly exceeded my expectations of just how good it was going to be.
Firstly, a perpetual calendar measuring under 10mm thick is impressive in itself, but the way it sits within the Master Control case and flows into the new integrated bracelet makes it even more visually appealing. The Master Control has always been one of my favourite Jaeger-LeCoultre collections because it leans towards a more traditional design, with its smooth bezel and curved lugs. However, Jaeger-LeCoultre has now taken those familiar design codes and elevated them into something that sets a new tone for the collection, paving the way for an exciting future.
Tradition Meets Integrated Modernity
As mentioned earlier, the Master Control collection features a signature case design with a sloping polished bezel and more traditional curved lugs. This gives the case an elegant architecture that leans into Jaeger-LeCoultre’s heritage. The new Master Control Chronomètre collection retains one of these key elements through the sloping bezel, while the traditional lugs have made way for a more contemporary design. This is due to the introduction of the new integrated bracelet, which is also the first integrated metal bracelet in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s history.
Another important point is that the current offerings in the Master Control collection generally measure 40mm in diameter, while there is also a smaller 36mm Master Control Date. Jaeger-LeCoultre is offering every model within the new Master Control Chronomètre collection at under 40mm, with the Perpetual Calendar sitting at just 39mm. This is certainly impressive considering the complication it houses. Not only that, but the 39mm case makes the watch immediately wearable across a range of wrist sizes, including smaller wrists like mine at 16cm.
With the case measuring an impressive 9.2mm thick, it certainly helps its wearability and allows it to feel less bulky on the wrist. I would have expected the time-only Chronomètre Date or Chronomètre Date Power Reserve editions to sit at this height, rather than a high complication such as the Perpetual Calendar. Achieving these proportions therefore speaks to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s technical expertise and its focus on creating a complicated watch that remains genuinely wearable.
The Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar is available in two editions: stainless steel or 18-carat pink gold. While there is a clear favourite for me, I can see the watch community having a difficult time deciding between the two. The stainless-steel edition contrasts beautifully with its blue-grey sunray dial, while the pink gold model holds its own through the warmth and luxurious character of the material itself.
For me, the clear favourite is the pink gold edition, purely because of how good it looks against my skin tone. The timepiece also features a variety of finishes that bring out the best of the material as it reacts to different lighting angles. The smooth bezel has a polished finish, while the top and sides of the case feature contrasting satin-brushed surfaces. The chamfered edges are then polished, introducing brighter highlights that emphasise the shape of the case.
These details lead beautifully into the integrated bracelet, which I have to say is an impressive design in itself since it is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s first integrated bracelet. I love its interlinked construction, with the trapezoidal centre links integrated beautifully into the broader three-link design.
The finishing is also what makes the watch so visually appealing, with polished trapezoidal links contrasting against the vertically brushed surfaces of the outer and broader central links. The outer links also feature polished V-shaped bevels, which are not purely decorative, as their shape mirrors the Dauphine hands and trapezoidal hour markers on the dial. It also allows the bracelet to shine from different angles, giving the watch a luxurious allure that is very difficult to take your eyes away from. Combined with the warmth of the 18-carat pink gold, it is honestly the icing on the cake.
Complexity Through Beautiful Balance
The Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar is offered in two different dial tones. The stainless-steel model comes with a blue-grey gradient dial featuring a sunray-brushed finish, transitioning into darker tones towards the outer minute track. The pink gold edition also features a sunray-brushed finish, but this time in a warm toffee-brown colour.
If I were to have one point of difference with the pink gold edition, it would be that I am not entirely sold on the toffee-brown dial against the pink gold case. Do not get me wrong, though, because the dial itself looks stunning. Its sunburst effect produces different shades of brown, ranging from dark to light depending on the angle of illumination. The pink gold hands and indices also complement the warm tones of the dial beautifully.
However, I am not entirely sure that the toffee-brown colour brings the very best out of the pink gold case. If this edition featured a much darker dial, such as the blue-grey option or even the black dial found on the 40mm Master Control Chronograph Calendar reference Q413257J, I think this timepiece could blow most perpetual calendars out of the water! Again, I am being very nitpicky, as the toffee-brown dial still matches the 18-carat pink gold beautifully by following a warmer, complementary approach rather than creating a strong contrast.
The dials of these new Master Control Chronomètre models also retain familiar elements of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Master Control design language. This includes the elegant minute track around the outer edge of the dial, the sharp and refined hour markers and Dauphine hands, as well as the moon phase display at 6 o’clock. Unlike the Chronomètre Date and Chronomètre Date Power Reserve models, the larger Arabic numerals have given way to smaller trapezoidal indices. This makes complete sense, as it allows the four perpetual calendar subdials to be integrated without making the dial feel unnecessarily overcrowded.
While there are several calendar models within the broader Master Control collection, this is the only perpetual calendar currently offered within the range, and it presents its information across four separate subdials. The display at 3 o’clock indicates the day of the week, while the subdial at 9 o’clock shows the date. At 12 o’clock, the display indicates the month, with two apertures positioned within it showing the year. The moon phase sits at 6 o’clock alongside the Jaeger-LeCoultre signature, completing a layout that remains impressively balanced despite the amount of information being presented.
On the pink gold edition, the moon phase display stands out beautifully against the toffee-brown dial through its star-filled night sky and golden moon. The moon itself is executed in hammered gold leaf, giving its surface a textured appearance that catches the light rather than appearing completely flat. The stainless-steel edition receives the same treatment in hammered platinum leaf, allowing its moon to complement the cooler tones of the blue-grey dial and steel case.
Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar Mastery
Powering the Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar is the brand’s automatic Manufacture Calibre 868. Jaeger-LeCoultre has previously used this movement within the Master Ultra Thin collection. However, for this model it has been significantly reconfigured, allowing the moon phase to sit at 6 o’clock, which is more in line with the Master Control collection’s signature identity, while the month and year indications now sit together at 12 o’clock.
What is impressive about this movement is that Jaeger-LeCoultre has fitted such a complex mechanism into a calibre measuring only 4.72mm thick. Made up of 332 components and 46 jewels, the Calibre 868 operates at 4Hz (28,800 VpH) while delivering a practical power reserve of 70 hours. The movement also automatically accounts for months of different lengths and leap years, displaying the date, day, month, year, and moon phase without requiring correction until 2100.
The Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar features a sapphire crystal caseback that showcases Jaeger-LeCoultre’s decorative finishing. This includes Côtes de Genève, circular graining, bevelled edges, polished grey screws and individually sunk rubies. An openworked oscillating weight crafted from 22-carat pink gold completes the display, adding another luxurious detail to a movement that is already technically impressive.
How Does The Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar Wear?
I personally think Jaeger-LeCoultre has delivered the complete package with these two Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar models. Regardless of which edition you prefer, both have been designed not only to sit beautifully on the wrist, but also to be visually appealing when viewed from almost any angle. It feels like an elegantly designed dress watch, yet the caveat is that there is a highly technical masterpiece sitting inside.
As stated previously, this watch is proportioned exceptionally well to suit a variety of wrist sizes. On my 16cm wrist, the case does not overhang, leaving enough room for it to fit even smaller wrists comfortably without feeling too imposing or large. As you can see from the photos, the 9.2mm thickness also allows the watch to sit remarkably flat against the wrist. Honestly, it is sometimes easy to forget that there is a perpetual calendar, one of the most complex mechanisms in watchmaking, sitting inside this model.
I certainly enjoyed the time I had with this watch. It is visually engaging for several reasons, but one characteristic that immediately stands out, even from a distance, is how beautifully it reflects light. This is largely due to the contrasting finishes applied throughout the case and bracelet, which continually reveal different details as the wrist moves.
Arguably, the bracelet is one of the biggest talking points and greatest successes of the new Master Control Chronomètre collection. I honestly do not think Jaeger-LeCoultre could have designed it any better. From an aesthetic perspective, the central trapezoidal links contrast beautifully against the elegant curves of the case, while also referencing the sharp geometry of the indices and Dauphine hands.
The integrated design, on the other hand, removes the visual projection created by traditional lugs, helping the case maintain a more contained footprint on smaller wrists. This, as we know with integrated bracelet designs, allows the case to seamlessly flow into the bracelet, making the entire watch feel like one continuous form, rather than seperate components that we get with the more traditional models in the Master Control collection.
The bracelet’s tapered profile also gives the watch a more modern and contemporary appearance, while preventing the design from looking overly broad or heavy as it wraps around the wrist. Its articulated construction allows the links to conform naturally to the wrist, while the gradual narrowing towards the clasp creates a more refined and balanced silhouette.
Jaeger-LeCoultre has also incorporated a discreet adjustment system into the butterfly clasp, helping the bracelet achieve a snug and precise fit. Combined with the compact 39mm diameter and slender 9.2mm profile, this makes the watch feel exceptionally comfortable and effortless to wear. Honestly, it is something you need to try in person to understand just how slim and well it sits on the wrist.
Final Thoughts
After spending some time with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar, I believe this is one of the most complete and certainly one of the most exciting evolutions of the Master Control collection yet. It retains the elegance and familiar design cues that have always made the collection recognisable, while introducing a more contemporary personality through Jaeger-LeCoultre’s first integrated bracelet design, compact proportions and beautifully detailed finishing.
The integrated bracelet represents a huge step forward, not only for the collection but for the brand as well, as its signature styling could potentially influence other Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces going forward. The butterfly clasp and its micro-adjustment system also contribute significantly to the watch’s wearability.
On top of this, what impresses me further is how Jaeger-LeCoultre has managed to package such a technically complicated movement inside a 39mm case measuring only 9.2mm thick. On my 16cm wrist, it sat flat, felt beautifully balanced, and never appeared overly large.
Of the two material choices available for the Master Control Chronomètre Perpetual Calendar, the pink gold edition remains my favourite, particularly because of how beautifully the material looks against my skin tone. More importantly, though, both versions demonstrate how an integrated bracelet watch can feel contemporary without simply following the familiar sports watch formula. Jaeger-LeCoultre has created an elegant, highly complicated, and genuinely wearable perpetual calendar that sets an exciting new direction for the Master Control collection.
