Cartier’s popularity is ever-growing, and the Maison has just opened its latest boutique in Sydney’s upmarket Chatswood Chase shopping centre.
Cartier has unveiled its newest boutique in Australia, opening at Chatswood Chase on Sydney’s North Shore. The launch marks another step in the Maison’s continued local expansion, joining its existing Sydney presence with its flagship boutique at 388 George Street and at Sydney International Airport. It also reinforces Chatswood Chase’s position as one of the city’s key luxury retail destinations.
Founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier, the Maison has long been associated with some of the most recognisable designs in jewellery and watchmaking history. From the Santos wristwatch created in 1904 for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, one of the first modern wristwatches, to the enduring Panthère motif that has defined Cartier’s aesthetic language for over a century, the brand has consistently balanced heritage with modern design. That same approach carries through into Chatswood Chase, where the focus is placed on the atmosphere, craft, and continuity.
The New Boutique
The boutique itself is more than a retail space, taking inspiration from Sydney’s natural landscape; its tides, sandstone, and shifting coastal light. That idea is translated through the work of artisans spanning Paris, Italy, and Australia, each contributing to an interior that feels layered, textured, and deliberately tied to place. If you’ve been to a Cartier boutique lately, you’ll see how Cartier infuses local artistry and themes throughout the boutique, based on the country and city it is located in.
At the entrance, a luminous canopy ceiling hand-pulled by Australian atelier DiEmme sets the tone, evoking the early morning light over Sydney Harbour. Nearby, wall panels shift from cool neutrals to warmer sandstone hues, a subtle nod to the meeting point between ocean and rock that defines the city’s coastline. Underfoot, custom oak flooring by Italian house Listone Giordano adds warmth and structure, grounding the space.

At the centre of the boutique, Cartier’s visual language takes focus through a painted panel by Parisian designer François Mascarello, featuring the Maison’s iconic panther in gold leaf, surrounded by birds and dragonflies that reference historic Cartier brooch designs. In the watchmaking space, a hand-painted scene by the British atelier de Gournay extends the narrative, reinterpreting 19th-century lithographs and weaving in subtle references to Australia’s native wildlife.

The boutique spans 406 square metres across a single level and presents the full Cartier universe, including jewellery, watches, bridal, leather goods, fragrance, and accessories. Two private salons also offer a more discreet environment for clients exploring high jewellery and exceptional pieces.

This boutique marks the seventh in Australia, with existing boutiques in Brisbane CBD, Melbourne CBD and Chadstone, along with Perth CBD, in addition to Sydney. This shows that Cartier’s popularity isn’t slowing down any time soon in Australia, and reinforces the brand as one of the top luxury brands in the country.
On a personal note, Cartier boutiques are some of the nicest and well-appointed boutiques around, and if you are shopping for a new watch, then one of Cartier’s Watch Ambassadors will be more than happy to help you out. They have a depth of knowledge of both the brand and timepieces as well, making it easier for you to find the watch that suits.
