Chinese New Year and Valentine’s both arrived in a single week! If you missed out on all the celebrations, fear not: Raymond Weil has you covered.

As they’ve stepped back into the spotlight, Raymond Weil has successfully established itself as a power player in the middle-market watch industry. I’ve spent a fair chunk of my watch-writing career covering the brand in detail, and the hits just keep coming.

Gone are the days of finding its watches discounted in nondescript shopping centres. Through its recent releases, particularly in the Freelancer and Millesime lines, the brand has reimagined itself, capturing the hearts and minds of enthusiasts worldwide.

Late last year, it upped the ante with yet another new collection, depending on who you ask. Part of the Toccata line, the Toccata Heritage became an instant smash in 2025 thanks to its dressy persona and luxurious yet accessible price point. With nine references to start, it’s no wonder the brand has kept up the momentum.

And keep it up it has. In conjunction with the dual celebrations of Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day, the brand has unveiled a romantic new addition to the larger Toccata Heritage models. For clarity, I’ll refer to this release as the ‘Red Valentine’.

The Raymond Weil Red Valentine shares the same specifications as the rest of the large Toccata Heritage collection. While a 33mm case diameter might sound diminutive for a ‘large’ designation, the elliptical case wears bigger than a typical round case. Paired with a 38mm length and a slim 6.95mm thickness, the Red Valentine is offered on either a black calfskin leather strap or a five-link bracelet with a butterfly clasp. You can purchase it on either option, and both are interchangeable.

As the name suggests, the Toccata Heritage Red Valentine is defined by its vibrant red dial. Sunray-brushed, it differs from the diamond-encrusted ladies’ model in the original release.

Where that dial evoked dark cherries or wine, the Red Valentine calls to mind roses or the hongbao/lai see (红包/利是) envelopes exchanged during Chinese New Year. Apt for the occasion, certainly, but far from a one-trick pony. The seductive dial is complemented by rose gold PVD coating over the stainless steel case.

Turn the watch over and you’ll find the same movement used throughout the Toccata Heritage range. For the uninitiated, this is the RW4100: a Sellita-based, manual-wind movement beating at 4Hz (28,800VpH) with a 45-hour power reserve.

Given Raymond Weil’s long-standing partnership with the movement manufacturer, reliability is assured. With blued screws and minimalist finishing, the brand has gone the extra mile to enhance the movement’s presentation while maintaining an accessible price point.

My Thoughts

In essence, the new Raymond Weil Toccata Heritage Red Valentine duo is a graceful remix of an already impressive timepiece. Combining contemporary watchmaking with heritage elegance, the Toccata Heritage had already knocked it out of the park. The Red Valentine pair simply builds on that story, offering a charming option with genuine unisex appeal.

Yes, it is ostensibly another colour-change release, which means it doesn’t add much in purely technical terms. But that hardly makes it lacklustre. The brand has smartly used the dual celebrations to draw well-earned attention to the collection, and it’s difficult to improve upon a design that isn’t broken.

With that in mind, the introduction of the Red Valentine is certainly welcome. If you’re looking for a last-minute addition to the collection, or scrambling for a romantic gift, this one deserves closer consideration.
