Breguet refreshes the Marine Chronographe 5527 with a cleaner bi-compax layout, traditional guilloché dials, and three distinct case executions.
Breguet has given its Marine collection a refresh for 2026! From the simpler Marine 5517 collection to the now sportier Marine Chronographe 5527, it brings the traditional Breguet identity back to its flyback chronograph models. Previously, we covered the Marine 5517 collection, where there were three new models, each having different material and strap variations, making a total of six new timepieces.
The current generation of the Marine began with the Marine Équation Marchante 5887 in 2017, before the 5517, Chronographe 5527, and Alarme Musicale 5547 completed the range in 2018. These new Marine Chronographe 5527 models therefore share the same architecture as the third-generation overhaul.
Just like the standalone Marine 5517 collection, Breguet is presenting three new executions of the Chronographe 5527; however, with a total of six references because each version can be ordered either on a rubber strap or a case-matching metal bracelet, in either white gold, rose gold or titanium.
A Cleaner, More Traditional Marine Chronographe
All six references share exactly the same proportions, with the case measuring 42.3mm in diameter, 13.9mm thick and approximately 50.7mm lug-to-lug. As expected, this makes these Marine Chronographe 5527 models noticeably larger than the 40mm x 11.5mm Marine 5517 models.
As mentioned earlier, the case itself has not been redesigned for this 2026 update, which means it retains the distinctive central lug architecture seen in the Marine 5517 models, along with the deeply fluted caseband, polished bezel, and the mixture of polished and brushed surfaces throughout the case.

The case proportions of the Marine Chronographe 5527 do make it feel substantial on the wrist, especially for slimmer wrists. And with the added weight of full white or rose gold, you will certainly feel its presence. The titanium edition, on the other hand, will naturally make these same dimensions feel considerably lighter on the wrist.
And while, yes, it is a big size, especially by modern trends, the larger proportions make sense for a sports chronograph and give the 5527 the wrist presence that suits the character of the Marine collection.
White Gold Marine Chronographe 5527
This edition combines an 18K white gold case with a beautiful blue gradient 18K gold dial, which gives it more character compared to the 18K white gold Marine 5517 with its flat ice blue dial. Another design element, which is present across all three new Marine Chronographe 5527 models, is the Quai de l’Horloge guilloché pattern, which sits beneath the gradient treatment.
The outer chapter ring gets a rhodium-plated treatment, which naturally creates a cooler transition between the dial and the white gold case. The Breguet Arabic indices on this chapter ring, as well as the hands and details of the sub-dials, are all executed in grey-finished 18K gold. This allows the indices to have a subtle contrast against the rhodium-plated chapter ring, while the hands and sub-counters have a similar effect against the gradient blue dial. The reason behind this execution is to allow the Quai de l’Horloge guilloché pattern and gradient blue dial to take centre stage.

Just like the Marine 5517 collection, Breguet is offering each version with two strap choices. This white gold edition gets either a blue rubber strap with a matching 18K white gold three-blade folding clasp, or a full 18K white gold bracelet. Personally, I like the rubber strap for this model, as it beautifully reflects the Quai de l’Horloge guilloché pattern found on the dial, allowing the pattern to remain the centre of attention.
Rose Gold Marine Chronographe 5527
The rose gold model in the Marine 5517 collection was my favourite, and I have to say it’s the same case with these new Marine Chronographe 5527 models. Unlike the 5517, Breguet is not pairing the rose gold with a starkly contrasting black dial, but rather the brand has chosen to pair the 18K rose gold case with another blue gradient gold dial, which once again creates a beautiful and now more colourful contrast with the surrounding rose gold elements.
The outer chapter ring is presented in a dark blue finish, which is also reflected on the sub-dials, although these receive a sunburst effect. The Breguet hour indices that run along the chapter ring, as well as the date window surround at 6 o’clock, are executed in 18K rose gold, which contrasts beautifully against the blue. The hands on the dial and sub-dials are also done in 18K rose gold, standing out nicely against the backdrop of the Quai de l’Horloge guilloché pattern with its gradient blue finish.

While this model also comes on a dial-matching navy blue rubber strap with an 18K rose gold three-blade folding clasp, I personally prefer the three-link 18K rose gold bracelet. It allows the precious metal to take centre stage, while creating a beautiful contrast against the deep blue dial.
Titanium Gold Marine Chronographe 5527
The final model in this latest Marine Chronographe 5527 update is the titanium edition, which, compared to the other two models presents a much more restrained aesthetic. Instead of the blue gradient dials found on the white and rose gold editions, Breguet has opted for a grey gradient 18K gold dial, which I think is actually a great choice, as it pairs beautifully with the cooler tones of the titanium case.
The Quai de l’Horloge guilloché pattern once again remains the centre of attention on the dial, while the rhodium-finished chapter ring and sub-dial surrounds further complement the monochromatic aesthetic of the timepiece. The Breguet Arabic numerals, hands and date window surround are executed in gold, which provides a subtle contrast against the surrounding grey tones of the dial.

And just like the white and rose gold editions, the titanium Marine Chronographe 5527 is offered with two strap options. The grey rubber strap keeps the watch looking sporty while also complementing the grey tones of the dial and case. However, I do think the full titanium bracelet is the better option here, as not only does it complete the monochromatic aesthetic beautifully, but the lightweight properties of titanium should also make the larger 42.3mm case more comfortable on the wrist. With the titanium bracelet, it also presents itself as a more everyday wearable chronograph option.
The Flyback Calibre 582QA
All six references are powered by Breguet’s automatic Calibre 582QA. This isn’t a brand new movement for the collection, as it also powered the previous-generation Marine Chronographe 5527 models. The movement features a flyback chronograph mechanism, which, for those who may not know, instead of stopping, resetting, and restarting the chronograph through three separate actions, allows it to be immediately reset and restarted with a single press while the chronograph is running.
The movement operates at a high beat rate of 4Hz (28,800 VpH), while offering a decent power reserve of 48 hours. The calibre also uses both a flat silicon balance spring and inverted silicon lever, continuing Breguet’s long-standing use of silicon to reduce friction and improve resistance to magnetism.
Through the caseback, we are treated to Breguet’s exceptional finishing, and in this case, the brand deliberately carries the Marine identity into the decoration rather than simply giving it generic haute horlogerie finishing. The most obvious detail is the gold oscillating weight, which is inspired by the lines of a ship’s rudder. The finishing also includes perlage, polished and bevelled edges, as well as straight, parallel striping across the bridges, which has historically been described on the Marine as resembling the wooden planking of a ship’s deck.
Initial Thoughts
While it may seem on the surface that, for these latest Marine Chronographe 5527 models, the design of the Marine 5517 has simply been copied and translated straight across, it goes much further than that. Breguet has genuinely simplified the 5527’s information architecture, going from three sub-dials to two and sacrificing the 12-hour sub-counter in favour of a cleaner design.
While this means that there is less chronograph capability, it does come with better visual balance, with the two chronograph sub-counters providing much more open space on the dial. And considering that the Quai de l’Horloge guilloché pattern is one of the highlight details of the timepiece, having fewer sub-dials allows this intricate pattern to take centre stage rather than being overshadowed by the chronograph displays.
The three Marine Chronographe 5527 models offer three different personalities, from the cool and refined white gold, the high-contrast and visually stunning rose gold, to the more subtle and wearable titanium editions. All three bring something different to the table. Taken together, however, the new Marine 5517 and Chronographe 5527 finally give Breguet’s core Marine models a much clearer connection to the craftsmanship and traditional design language for which the manufacture is truly known!
