The latest unveiling from Breitling see’s the brand update their Chronomat line, with the release of six new models named Super Chornomat. The all-new Super Chornomat as Breitling puts it, is the brand’s “boldest Chronomat to date, is the ultimate choice for those who want a timepiece mastering the balance between sturdy and stylish”.
The Super Chornomat was inspired by the Frecce Tricolori watch which Breitling created for the Italian Ait Force’s aerobatic fleet in 1983. The Super Chornomat timepiece is one that is suited for sports, yet can also be worn for elegant functions and evenings.
Breitling CEO Georges Kern states that “this is a watch you’ll get noticed in without having to worry about it. This watch is tough enough for every pursuit, but it won’t get in the way of your sense of style.”
The Breitling Super Chronomat B01 as mentioned before comes in six different versions. All six are in 44mm case sizes, with three models being encased in stainless steel. Two of the stainless steel models come with blue or black dial-and-bezel combinations. The third model is definitely the stand-out piece with a rich brown dial-and-bezel combination. The case for this third model is made in 18k red gold.
One of the stainless steel models is quite special as it has quite a quirky Breitling feature that was used back in the 1980’s. The black dial version of the stainless steel model has a UTC-module embedded into a Rouleaus bracelet. The Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) module is essentially a way of keeping track of a second-time zone.
Alongside these three models, Breitling has also released the Super Chornomat 44 Four-Year Calendar. This model comes in two variants; a black dial with tone-on-tone chronograph counters, a stainless-steel bezel with a black ceramic insert with 18k red gold elements, or, a blue dial featuring tone-on-tone chronograph counters and a bezel in 18k red gold with blue ceramic insert.
The movement used inside all the variants of the new Super Chronomat is the brand’s own Manufacture Caliber 01. The Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 movement is a self-winding mechanical bidirectional with ball bearing movement. The movement comes with a frequency of 28, 800 VpH (4Hz) and gives out a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
For the stainless steel model that features the UTC module, the movement used for the module is the Breitling calibre 61. This movement is quartz and has a battery life of approximately 60 months.
For the stainless steel models that feature the 4-year calendar function, the movement used is the Breitling calibre 19. The beauty of this movement is that only adjustmemt is required after 1461 days.
The all-new Super Chronomat line by Breitling is certainly the brand’s best looking and boldest chronomat models to date. Giving a fresh new take on the mechanical chronograph that the brand had built its global reputation on, these 6 new timepieces are a great choice for those that want a watch with the right balance between stylish and being sporty.
