The countdown to the 2026 Formula One season has begun! To celebrate, we’re introducing you to one of their iconic horological sponsors: H. Moser & Cie.

The 8th of March marks the start of the new Formula One season, and it is shaping up to be a thrilling one! New machinery, new teams, and new circuits have all been added to the world’s most popular motorsport, and all eyes are on the 22 drivers competing for this year’s World Drivers’ Championship.

Where our gaze drifts, however, is to their wrists! Formula One races are marquee events on everyone’s calendar, but they are also grand showcases for the watch industry. Formula One and watchmaking have long been intertwined, a cocktail of heritage, innovation, and luxury branding.

As the grid lines up, we at Watch Advice are celebrating with The Formula 1® Watch Week. Part history lesson, part watch-spotting, we are introducing the iconic brands that sponsor this remarkable sport. Today, we are shining a light on H. Moser & Cie, a newcomer, but quickly becoming one of Formula One’s most enduring companions.

H. Moser & Cie’s History With Formula One

H. Moser & Cie. was founded in 1828 by Heinrich Moser, an entrepreneur, industrial pioneer, and Swiss watchmaker. The independent brand is built around a clear philosophy: creating timepieces with a minimalist design language. While many traditional watchmakers lean into complexity through bold or intricate aesthetics, H. Moser & Cie. takes a different path, focusing on purity of design, clean lines, and a refined, understated approach.

In recent years, H. Moser & Cie. has gained attention for its unconventional approach to watchmaking, often challenging industry norms through both design and messaging. One of the brand’s signatures is its minimalist fumé dials, which strip the display back to its purest form. These timepieces typically feature no logos or hour indices, leaving only the hands to indicate the time. The result allows the craftsmanship and depth of the fumé finish to take centre stage.

While the dials may appear minimalistic, there is far more complexity beneath the surface. The movements are highly refined, showcasing the brand’s technical depth and watchmaking expertise. It’s this same forward-thinking mindset that makes the partnership with Alpine a natural fit, bringing together precision engineering and a shared focus on performance.

Alpine’s presence in Formula 1 is built on a legacy that traces back to Renault, one of the sport’s most successful manufacturers. Under its previous identities, the team secured multiple Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, establishing itself as a competitive force across different eras. Rebranded as BWT Alpine F1 Team in 2021, it represents a new chapter, one that blends French heritage with a modern, performance-driven approach.

Since rebranding as BWT Alpine F1 Team, the team has shown glimpses of its potential, including a race victory in 2021 along with several podium finishes. While consistently fighting at the front has proved challenging in recent seasons, Alpine continues to invest heavily in its future in Formula 1.

H. Moser & Cie.’s partnership with Alpine Motorsports follows the now-familiar trend of watch collaborations on the Formula 1 grid, but with what the brand calls a “generous dose of audacity.” As Alpine’s first-ever Global Partner, Moser supports the entire racing spectrum, from the Alpine Endurance Team and Alpine Academy to Rac(H)er and, of course, the BWT Alpine F1 Team.

The collaboration was first announced in 2024, and since then, H. Moser & Cie. has released a duo of timepieces dedicated to the BWT Alpine F1 Team.

The Drivers & Their Watches

Pierre Gasly – Driver Profile

Pierre Gasly made his Formula 1 debut in 2017 and has since established himself as a race winner capable of delivering consistent performances on the grid. The French driver began his career rising through the ranks of the Red Bull Junior Programme, eventually earning a seat at Toro Rosso before being promoted to Red Bull Racing in 2019.

As we all know, the second seat in Red Bull’s driver line-up has been anything but stable. While Pierre Gasly’s time with Red Bull Racing was short-lived, he showed real resilience by returning to Toro Rosso, where he delivered standout performances, including a podium finish in Brazil that same year.

Arguably, Gasly’s career highlight came at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, where he secured his first Formula 1 victory in what was both a memorable and somewhat unexpected result. Pierre Gasly joined the BWT Alpine F1 Team in 2023, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained throughout his career across multiple teams. More importantly, he added consistency and a winning mindset, contributing valuable points finishes while also playing a key role in the team’s ongoing development.

With over 170 race starts and multiple podiums to his name, Pierre remains a key figure within the Alpine team. With the 2026 season introducing new regulations and an all-new generation of cars, it’s truly all to play for. Combined with Gasly’s resilient attitude and the BWT Alpine F1 Team’s push towards the front of the grid, this partnership will certainly be one to watch.

Franco Colapinto – Driver Profile

Still considered a Formula 1 rookie, Franco Colapinto made his F1 debut in late 2024 with Williams before securing a move to the BWT Alpine F1 Team. Although he gained valuable experience during the 2024 season, replacing Logan Sargeant for the final nine races, he remains one of the sport’s fresh new talents, representing the next generation of Formula 1 drivers.

Before stepping into Formula 1, the Argentine driver gained recognition through his performances in Formula 3 and Formula 2, where he secured multiple podiums and race wins while demonstrating strong consistency at the front of the field. Those performances caught the attention of the BWT Alpine F1 Team, earning him a contract in 2025 and marking a significant step forward in his career.

Still very early in his Formula 1 journey, Colapinto continues to develop his racecraft while adapting to the demands of the sport’s highest level. Although results have been limited so far, his potential remains clear, with Alpine backing him for the 2026 season and showing confidence in his long-term development.

As the team looks ahead to a new era under evolving regulations, Colapinto will be aiming to build experience and establish himself as a consistent performer on the grid.

H. Moser & Cie. – Streamliner Alpine Drivers and Mechanics Editions

When H. Moser & Cie.’s partnership with Alpine Motorsports was first announced, the brand made it clear they didn’t want to create just another timepiece to mark the occasion. As they put it, “Swapped logos. A splash of colour. Showy slogans. That’s where most partnerships between watchmakers and car manufacturers tend to end. But when we teamed up with Alpine Motorsports, our goal was to rewrite the rules.”

The end result was two unique creations, one dedicated to the Alpine drivers and the other to the team behind the scenes: the Alpine mechanics. While both timepieces serve the same partnership, they take very different approaches, with one focused on pure horological and mechanical precision, and the other embracing state-of-the-art technology.

Both editions are offered in Alpine Motorsport’s signature blue and pink colourways. The Drivers “Blue” edition is paired with a clean white rubber strap, which creates a crisp and sporty aesthetic. Meanwhile, the pink variant takes a far bolder approach, embracing a vibrant hue that immediately stands out and reinforces the team’s identity on and off the track.

Alpine Streamliner Drivers Edition

The H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition was born from the desire to create a timepiece as stylish as Alpine’s single-seater cars. Every detail of the Drivers Edition draws inspiration from the racetrack. The V-shaped bridges, positioned at the top and bottom of the dial, are inspired by the suspension geometry of a single-seater.

The movement’s central bridge, visible through the caseback, is designed as a subtle nod to a racing helmet, reinforcing the motorsport connection. Meanwhile, the automatic winding rotor echoes the design of an Alpine A110 wheel rim. These small yet thoughtful details add depth beneath the surface, bridging high-end watchmaking with automotive engineering.

With the aesthetics of the timepiece refined to reflect the design cues of Alpine’s motorsport cars, the movement itself is also entirely new. H. Moser & Cie. has gone all out with this collaboration, introducing the brand’s first skeletonised chronograph calibre. Staying true to its philosophy of minimalism and legibility, the watch features central minutes and seconds, a flyback function, and no subdials.

Alpine Streamliner Mechanics Edition

Rather than creating another timepiece with purely aesthetic changes from the Drivers Edition, H. Moser & Cie.’s Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition was co-developed with Alpine’s engineers and pit crew as a functional tool for real-world race environments. Designed to help teams communicate faster and make split-second decisions under pressure, the Mechanics Edition goes beyond traditional watchmaking to serve a practical purpose on race weekends.

When the Mechanics Edition is not in use, it maintains a clean yet discreet presence on the wrist. However, once activated, the display comes alive with race-relevant features, including GMT functionality with a country selector, a split-seconds chronograph, a perpetual calendar, and a dedicated F1 mode with countdowns and live alerts for key moments.

The Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition is built on a bespoke technology platform, reflecting the high-performance precision demanded by motorsport. At the same time, it retains traditional watchmaking touches, including a small Funky Blue fumé dial for analogue time and date, proving that innovation doesn’t have to come at the expense of heritage.
