Sun-soaked style meets serious watchmaking in what is Hublot’s boldest summer release yet. With vibrant orange, Mediterranean blue and crisp white colours, the Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 brings Mykonos to your wrist. This is a timepiece that has colour with purpose, and a must-have for any collection that doesn’t play it safe!

Since 2017, Hublot has been marking the European summer season with vibrant iterations of its Big Bang series, with each timepiece echoing the spirit of sun-soaked destinations. Some of the notable pieces were the Big Bang Unico Azur, a tribute to the Mediterranean’s deep blue hues, to one of my favourite Hublot releases, the Big Bang Unico Sky Blue. The Sky Blue edition was perfect with its white and sky blue colour combination, executed brilliantly to be visually aesthetic while also being reminiscent of clear summer skies. And that’s what the essence of Hublot’s summer timepieces has been about: creating watches that capture the spirit of their inspirations.

Now, if there’s one thing not to miss this European summer season, it’s the launch of the new Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 and the unforgettable Hublot Summer event that comes along with it! In the very heart of Mykonos, Hublot Ambassador and the world’s fastest athlete, Usain Bolt, sets up with Friend of the Brand Mattia Vitale, member of the DJ trio Meduza, to create an exclusive summer celebration with press, clients, KOLs and members of the Hublot family.

“Summer and its festive spirit have been celebrated at Hublot for the past 8 years. The Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 reflects what Hublot stands for: bold, vibrant and unforgettable moments. It’s not just about a watch launch or a party, it’s a feeling. A celebration of summer, joy, friendship, team spirit and above all incredible people who make Hublot what it is”
Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot, on the latest Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 release.

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 captures the endless days under the sun, warm sand between your toes and the waves gently lapping the shore with its beautiful colourful display. The two main colours covering this dial are the sun-kissed orange and Mediterranean blue, perfectly showing the essence of summer. These vibrant hues aren’t just for show either; they evoke the rhythm of Mykonos itself: bold, energetic, and effortlessly cool.

Case Design:

The iconic Big Bang Unico 42mm x 14.5mm thick case features Hublot’s signature micro-blasted high-tech ceramic material, making it as light as a sea breeze but also built to handle any summer adventure! The sandwich construction of the case features three colours that reflect the European summer vibes of Greece. The front and case back is done in vivid orange, which glows like golden hour, while the middle part of the case features a crisp white that adds contrast and freshness, almost like a burst of sea foam cutting through the sunset.

Two shades of blue are used for the bezel construction, firstly a deep navy blue for the base plate, with the colour extending across to the dial, followed by the ceramic bezel done in beautiful Mediterranean blue. The Hublot Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 is easily the brand’s most colourful summer edition, making it a true standout in the collection. With its bold use of orange, blue, and crisp white ceramic, it captures the carefree energy of the season while pushing the boundaries of what a luxury summer watch can look like.

Dial Design:

The openworked dial of the Big Bang Unico continues the summer story with the different colour accents continuing onto the dial to showcase the vibrant energy of Mkyonos. Firstly, we have the navy blue colour of the bezel baseplate shown on the movement main plate and bridges, as well as the date wheel. The borders of the chronograph sub-counters are done in orange, with the 3 o’clock 60-minute counter having Mediterrenean blue finish to match with the case aesthetics nicely. Hublot has done the chronograph hand in yellow so that it stands out among the sea of colours underneath.

While plenty is happening on the dial, from the skeletonised architecture of the movement to the asymmetrical chronograph counters, readability remains surprisingly clear. This is thanks to the large hour indices and hands, which have been filled with white SuperLumi-Nova. The white detailing doesn’t just enhance legibility, it also ties in seamlessly with the crisp white mid-case, standing out beautifully against the deep blue tones of the exposed movement beneath.

Movement:

Nestled inside the colourful dial is Hublot’s in-house HUB1280 Unico Manufacture automatic chronograph flyback movement. For those that may not know, the flyback feature on a chronograph allows instant stop-start of the chronograph with the press of a single chronograph pusher, cutting down on time from manually pressing the individual pushers for each feature. The transparent caseback gives a view of the movement, and unlike the colourful dial, we are treated to a sea of navy blue mixed with contrasting metallic finishes. It’s a more refined and technical look from the rear, a reminder that beneath all the bold summer flair, there’s still serious horology at play!

Initial Thoughts:

When I first saw this timepiece, I wasn’t entirely convinced the colours would work together. Orange and blue isn’t exactly a conventional pairing, especially on a timepiece. However, after seeing the timepiece more in-depth, Hublot’s execution started to make sense. The addition of crisp white elements helps break up the dial, creating a vibrant yet balanced design that captures the spirit of summer without feeling overdone. It’s bold, it’s playful, and above all, it works!

This is the kind of watch that brings energy to any collection. The perfect summer statement piece that adds colour, character, and a bit of fun to the wrist. Whether you’re lounging poolside in Mykonos or just dressing for a fun weekend ahead, the Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 proves that sometimes, bold is exactly what your collection needs.
