LVMH Watch Week: Hublot Spirit Of Big Bang 32mm Jewellery

by Sameera Gamage

Hublot has unveiled six new timepieces where watchmaking and jewellery collide to create an enchanting match.

The new Hublot Spirit of Big Bang timepieces have been given the feminine touch, with master gemsetters working their magic on the 32mm cases, giving them a brand new sparkle or transforming them into a beautiful rainbow of colours.

The six new timepieces are available in two material types: Hublot’s King Gold (the manufacturer’s 18K gold alloy) or stainless steel. Each material gives a different aesthetic to the timepiece, especially when combined with the gemstones, transforming each watch into a sparkling piece of jewellery.

Our watches are designed to open their hearts to you, and in so doing they light a spark of joy in yours. Jewellery or watch… now there is no need to choose! Originally created at the dawn of the 20th century, the ladies’ watch now becomes a true piece of jewellery for the wrist. Since 2007, we have created a gem-set model each year. What motivates us? Above all, passion! We value innovation, breaking new ground, creating exceptional pieces… And the Spirit of Big Bang 32 mm Jewellery embodies this.

These full-set pieces showcase our jewellers’ perfect mastery and excellent craftsmanship, from the meticulous selection of the gemstones to their exquisite setting. Achieving aesthetic and technical feats, and mastering the highest level of precision is an art which we practise every day and which we cultivate at Hublot with unwavering enthusiasm.

The six Spirit Of Big Bang 32mm Jewellery timepieces are split up into pairs, with each pair having its own material and two different strap options. Firstly, we get the stainless steel 32mm Spirit of Big Bang, which has a satin-finished and polished case. This stainless steel model, like all the other models in this new collection, has been set with an exuberant number of diamonds. The case itself contains a total of 96 diamonds, the bezel set with 44 diamonds and finally, the dial set with an astonishing 339 diamonds. All the diamonds on a single timepiece in this new Spirit Of Big Bang 32mm Jewellery collection add up to a total of 479 diamonds (2.1 carats)!

The pair of stainless steel models get differing rubber straps. These structured lined rubber straps are offered in either white or black, which, against the stainless steel set with diamonds, offer a dial-matching colour scheme or a contrasting look. Personally, the black structured rubber strap looks best on this model, as it allows the diamonds to really stand out and be noticeable from some distance, unlike the white rubber strap, which has one colour scheme throughout the watch.

The second pair is the 18K King Gold timepieces. This pair of timepieces have the same number of diamonds as the stainless steel model set into the watch (479 diamonds, 2.1 carats). Unlike the stainless steel model, the diamonds actually stand out nicely against the 18K King Gold case and bezel materials.

Hublot offers the same structured lined rubber straps as per the stainless steel version; however, this time, both colours actually look good on the model. The white strap complements the 18K King Gold material nicely, whilst the black offers the stark contrasting stand-out effect, allowing the diamonds and the 18K King Gold case and bezel to shine.

The last pair in this new Spirit Of Big Bang 32mm collection is the pair of rainbow-coloured timepieces. These models feel almost like special editions due to the extravagant aesthetics of the gem set case, bezel, and dial look. Unlike the previous pairs in this collection, these Spirit of Big Bang Rainbow timepieces are either offered in a stainless steel case or a 18K King Gold case, giving the best of the both worlds.

The polished stainless steel case of the 18K King Gold case comes with 96 baguette-cut coloured gemstones. These stones go from rubies, pink sapphires, amethysts, blue sapphires, blue topazes, and tsavourites to the yellow and orange sapphires to complete the rainbow-coloured look. This rainbow-coloured pattern of gemstones is mimicked on the bezel as well in beautiful detail, totalling 58 coloured gemstones.

The dial then goes one step further in continuing this rainbow-coloured pattern of gemstones, with 339 coloured gemstones being set onto the dial. The rainbow-coloured scheme is done with different sizes and shaped stones, from the bezel to the case, and the dial provides a luxurious and aesthetic look.

Both variants of the Spirit Of Big Bang 32mm Rainbow come with a black rubber and multicoloured alligator strap. The colours of the straps continue the rainbow-coloured scheme in either vivid red for the yellow, orange or pink gemstone part of the timepiece, while the bottom side with the blue and green gemstones gets a more blue/purple hue of colour on the strap.

All six models in this new Spirit Of Big Bang 32mm Jewellery collection come with Hublot’s MHUB1120 calibre movement. This movement has been used throughout the Big Bang collection, especially for the high-end jewellery timepieces. This self-winding movement operates at a high frequency of 4Hz (28,800 VpH), ensuring a high level of accuracy whilst giving a power reserve of 40 hours.

With these fully-set Spirit of Big Bang Jewellery pieces, draped in precious stones, time almost becomes secondary. The slim design embodies a feminine spirit, further enhancing the brilliance of this latest ladies collection. The Spirit Of Big Bang 32mm Jewellery aren’t limited edition models, and is currently available for purchase. Head to Hublot.com to enquire about these latest stunning high-end jewellery timepieces.
