Bremont Releases First New Models Under New CEO Davide Cerrato

by Matt Clymo

Bremont has released a reinvigorated Supermarine GMT Line up – the first new and improved models under the stewardship of CEO Davide Cerrato, and they look the business!

This week, Bremont, the British watch brand founded by brothers Giles and Nick English released their latest new look Supermarine GMT Diver models. Why is this a big deal? Well it’s the first models to come out under their new CEO, Davide Cerrato – the man responsible for the Tudor Black Bay amongst other accomplishments. Since taking over, we’ve been eagerly waiting to see what his first move is, and it’s doubling down on the Supermarine collection, one of Bremont’s core model lines and one that is heavily associated with their growing swath of adventure seeking brand ambassadors. And this time they’ve teamed up with ocean conservationist, free diver and shark lover, Ocean Ramsey.

Ocean Ramsey sporting her new Bremot Supermarine Ocean Liited Edition

Bremont have launched three new Supermarine GMT Diver models, more refined compared to the previous Supermarine GMT and in three new colours, one of which is the limited edition Supermarine Ocean, limited to 400 pieces and the one that Ocean Ramsey and her partner, Juan Oliphant will be wearing.

From left to right the Supermarine Ocean, Blue/Green and Jet Black on rubber

For those not familiar with Ocean Ramsey, she is a marine biologist, shark and marine conservationist, professional freediver, scuba instructor, author and model. Juan is a marine conservationist, award-winning photographer and videographer and both are based in Hawaii. If you want to see what she is about and just what she gets up to (hint, there’s a lot of sharks!) then head over to her Instagram page here, or jump over to her website for more detail on her conservation efforts.

This particular model looks clean and modern, and dare we say sleek with the grey textured dial and grey rubber strap, offset nicely with the orange accents on the dial and GMT hand. Fitting for someone like Ocean who lives her life in the ocean, helping to protect marine life and bringing awareness of the plight of the oceans to the public. For those that want a slightly different look, this model also comes with the option of either a brown leather strap or stainless steel bracelet.

The second variant has a Blue and Green bezel, representing the AM and PM hours of the day (Blue for PM, and green for AM). With a deep blue dial and matching strap, the orange writing and GMT hand pop against this and the vibrant green offsets all this nicely. Again, if you’re not wanting rubber, then the brown leather is available.

The Blue Green GMT Diver on the wrist highlights the colours of this piece.

For those that want a more stealthy look, then the Supermarine GMT ‘Jet’ could be right up your alley. In an all black DLC case and with the option of an integrated rubber or black leather strap, this is possibly the most military looking piece of the trio. Again, you get the orange accents with the Supermarine writing on the dial and the GMT hand, and the lume filled indices on the dial and 24 hour markers on the uni-directional bezel break up the darkness.

Adding a bit of stealth to the Supermarine with the Jet Black model

Each of the new models come in a compact 40mm stainless steel Bremont Trip-Tick® case with a domed anti-reflective, scratch resistant sapphire crystal and 24 hour uni-directional rotating bezel. Whilst these are GMT watches, they are dive watches and as a result, the bezel is uni-directional to avoid a potentially deadly situation should you be on a dive and accidently knock the bezel leaving you with more time than you have air.

Each of the new Supermarine GMT’s are powered by a modified calibre BE-932AV automatic movement, and like most of Bremont’s movements, come complete with a Glucydur balance wheel, Anachron balance spring, Nivaflex mainspring and beats at 28,800bph (4Hz) with a 50-hour power reserve.

And for those that get in quick, each of these pieces come with a Bremont waterproof travel bag – perfect if you want to get outdoors and go on your own adventure and don’t want to risk you clothes and valuables getting wet!

Final Thoughts

Bremont has made its mark by being a brand that creates everyday, robust watches with many designed and linking with the British Ministry Of Defence, His Majesty’s Armed Forces and outside this, having modern day adventurers like Ocean Ramsey, World record holding mountaineer Kristin Harila, ex-special forces and TV presenter Aldo Kane, and surfer, Laird Hamilton putting their trust in the brand.

The new variants are an evolution of this and as this is the first release under Davide Cerrato, it’s not surprising that rather than overhauling the collection completely, he has taken a core collection and made incremental improvements to one of it’s model lines. With smoother lines, a 24 hour GMT bezel and an integrated rubber strap, these are a good looking sports watch that is sure to win some fans.
