Panerai’s latest unveiling is a creation made alongside Team Luna Rossa. Team Luna Rossa is one of the top sailing clubs in the world, with the team winning the Prada Cup in the most recent America’s Cup. Panerai and Team Luna Rossa have been in partnership since 2017, with the Italian luxury watch brand supporting the team when needed.

Panerai has taken inspiration from Team Luna Rossa and used sailing technology in several of their watches. By doing so, it also showcases the sporting spirit of the sailing universe.

This new timepiece created as part of Panerai’s Luna Rossa collection is a new look to celebrate the renewal of Panerai’s partnership with Team Luna Rossa. It’s also created anticipation of the next America’s Cup race in 2024 in Barcelona.

Panerai keeps the watch relatively simple while giving it a fresh new appearance. The watch has a simple colour palette of white, grey, and red.

Packaged in a 44mm polished steel case, the watch is rated to a depth of 100m. The timepiece comes with a bi-material grey strap with a singular red stripe (with the Luna Rossa logo) starting on the 6 o’clock side of the dial.

WatchAdvice’s Thoughts:

This new look for Panerai’s latest model for the Luna Rossa collection is simple yet effective in design. The only colour on the dial is the red constant second’s hand at 9 o’clock, which quite nicely matches the red stripe on the strap. Having only these two elements in colour certainly gives more attention to it.

The white dial mixed with the grey strap gives it a nautical style. The different finishings on the case also add to the watch’s character as it comes with a polished case and lever, while the crown protection device is done in a brushed finish. Generous amounts of superluminova have been used for the hour indices and hands, which certainly light up the dial in low light conditions.

Panerai has given this latest Luna Rossa the P.6000 calibre movement, which, although hand-wound, features a staggering three-day power reserve. The movement comes with a device that stops the balance when the winding crown is pulled so that greater accuracy is provided after adjusting the time.

A fresh new design in celebration of renewed partnerships and exciting upcoming America’s Cup, the new Panerai Luna Rossa is a special edition model limited to 1,500 pieces.
